Stuck in the Middle

Edwin, our middle child, provides non-stop entertainment with his rambunctious and joyful attitude. 

I asked Edwin to watch Greta for me while I readied myself for bed. Not even 1 minute later Edwin was chatting through the bathroom door, something about the difference between boys and girls chest, and Greta was screaming. 

I quickly finished my evening rituals and came into the bedroom to see what the problem was. Upon inquiring why Greta was so upset, Edwin replied, " I was turning her head to nurse her".

Amused and surprised I asked him why he had tried to feed her. He said, " You told me too".  I told Edwin that I had asked him to babysit her, not nurse her. "Oh", was his reply with a slight giggle. 

He cracks me up! 

The Eldest

Joseph has recently turned 6... where does the time go. He's become quite helpful around the home. The other evening we had several guest coming for dinner and Joseph asked how he could help.  He took the recycling out to the woodpile, collected the garbage and pulled on his gumboots to empty the compost. I loved that he looked like a little farm boy.

Big Babies

The other day the boys came in from playing on the slip n slide and I was still preparing dinner. When I finished I looked into the play room and found Edwin in Greta's car seat and Joseph in her rocking chair. 

Greta occasionally has a turn in her chair... when her brother's aren't using it. She is quite the little drooler now and is grasping everything and bringing it to her mouth. Even her blanket.

Edwin was told to hop into the bath to be washed and I found him in Greta's bather. Silly guy! At least he covered up for the picture.

28th Granchild

Congratulations to my brother Spencer and his wife Ashley on the arrival of their first child. He arrived at a hefty 9lbs. Van Spencer is his name and we love him already. It's amazing that after all the nieces and nephews we have it's still exciting to have another. Van and Greta will be great friends. 

Greta

Greta is three months old now and there never has been a girl more adorable or more adored. She is an absolute angel of a baby. She sleeps through the night and most of the day... still. 

We just can't get enough of her. I often have to contain Edwin's mauling displays of affection. His reply is, " But mom, she's just too cute".  Each night the boys have to have a snuggle with her before they will go to sleep. 

Ryan hates the big flowers and bow in her hair but as they say..." the bigger the bow the cuter the baby". They don't make bows big enough for our little princess. :)

Toothless

Joseph lost his first tooth just before his 6th birthday. He was a little distraught about Ryan yanking it out... hence the snot running down his face. But we were all excited about his new milestone. 

Behold the teeny tiny tooth. The Tooth Fairy came that night and gave him 2 loonies. I guess she pays extra for first teeth. Joseph came running downstairs the next morning beaming and showed Edwin his loot. Then he gave Edwin one of his loonies. Wow! That boy impresses me all the time.

These two were absolutely wasted after hiking and camping. When  I asked Joe to tell me about his weekend when he got out of the car he said, " I don't want to discuss it right now".  Then he hobbled over to the couch and fell asleep.

Hiking and Camping Adventure

The Boys went on their first big camping excursion at the beginning of this month. It was a 5km hike in and each had their own little backpack containing clothing and a waterbottle. Ryan carried the tent, fishing rod, 3 sleeping bags, snacks, headlamps, etc. They had a blast and were thoroughly filthy and exhausted .  The next evening when they had arrived back home and Edwin had had a nap he asked if they could go hiking again.  What a little trooper!
